Woman * المرأة * 女士

I titled this one Woman to reveal the gender behind the scarf. 

Here the Palestinian woman is covered by a national scarf and carrying the weight of thorns on her head.

 While the woman is hidden under fabric and covering her head with thorns feels like protection, yet there is a loss in individuality and identity. 

The woman resembles the cactus, a plant that wants life and to be alive yet also to be protected from predators. I often feel that nature is very similar to the identity of women as the saying "mother nature", "the motherland". mother is ancestral and knowledge and abundance. 

I feel that nature is a woman in many of its layers. The colors here are complementary, illustrating a green background to complement the brown and reds. Sometimes red feels like blood and it's interesting to view the thorns pointing towards the red scarf at the woman's head. those thorns that are pointing outwards through the green space, they're also pointing at the woman herself, they feel like attacks.
